Orchestra from Scratch

APPLICATIONS FOR 2024 NOW OPEN

 

Presented in 2012 for the first time Orchestra from Scratch was an opportunity for amateur orchestral musicians (with a minimum of Grade 3) to experience playing with others in an orchestral setting. Players receive the music in advance and practice for weeks before coming together for one day of rehearsals and a concert under the baton of Maestra Susan Cøck.

Players come from as far afield as Nelspruit and Polokwane to join in this fantastic event. The number of players has ranged from 81, all the way up to 171 and we have had players from the ages of 7 to 87!

 The musicians are encouraged to participate as much as they can and the emphasis is on the fun of the experience rather than getting everything 100% correct.
